All harm reduction centres operated by Convictus provide the service of collecting hazardous waste (used syringes and other injecting equipment), as well as issuing unused syringes and other injecting equipment to clients.
The aim of hazardous waste collection is to remove potentially infected syringes from circulation and provide accessible services to people who use drugs. In addition, needle and syringe exchange services establish contact with people who use drugs, making it easier to offer them health care services, counselling and information.
